Housing Information

Winter Break 

The residence halls will close for Winter Break at 10:00 a.m. December 14, 2024 and reopen at 9:00 a.m. January 19, 2025. 

Students (including those in the Apartments) who need to remain on campus for any portion of the winter break must apply to do so by submitting the Winter Break Housing application. Students who do not submit this form by noon on December 13 will not have access to their residence halls during the break. .

Spring Housing Process

This process is ONLY for newly admitted spring 2025 students and current students returning from semester abroad programs and/or leave. 

Students returning from fall study abroad programs or leave must contact Residential Life (reslife@binghamton.edu) to be made eligible for this process. 

Students currently living on campus for the fall 2024 semester DO NOT participate in this process.

New first year students 

  • are required to live on campus and are guaranteed housing.  
  • are not eligible to live in the Apartments Community.

New Transfer students and students returning from study abroad/leave  

  • are not required to live on campus.
  • may live in the Apartments Community or the traditional lower campus residence halls as space permits.

Returning student housing 2025–26

This process is for current residents interested in returning to on-campus housing for the 2025–26 academic year. Students looking to return to campus must participate in this process in order to secure housing. More information can be found on the Returning Student Housing web page


2024–25 Petition to be released from the University Housing Agreement 

This process is for residents who are signed up for on-campus housing for the 2024-25 academic year and will not be enrolled as °®¶¹´«Ã½ students for the fall 2024 semester.  

Generally speaking, petitions to be released from the University Housing Agreement are denied unless they fit into one of  three categories below:

  • Not going to be enrolled as a °®¶¹´«Ã½ student for the fall semester.
  • Significant and unanticipated change in financial circumstances that occurred following room selection.
  • Newly diagnosed or exacerbated medical conditions that cannot be addressed through housing accommodations.
